3 Reasons Opening An eBay Store Will Make You More Money

If you’re looking to make money and sell on eBay, opening an eBay store is an important part of the journey. It allows you to drive more traffic, and ultimately increases your profitability. Taking the time to set up your store will allow you to maximize profit and even look more professional.

Check out the 3 reasons opening an eBay store will make you more money:

  1. Having an eBay Store helps to drive more traffic to each of your items.
  2. Serious sellers will save money on fees by having an eBay Store
  3. And the best news is that eBay Stores have now been enabled on mobile!

1. Having an eBay Store helps to drive more traffic to each of your items

An eBay Store enables you to grow your brand. With an eBay Store, you can develop a following, and highlight your items.

Every time someone views any of your items on eBay, you want to capitalize on that traffic and direct them to your other listings when possible.

By having an eBay store, shoppers will see a link to your store when they view any of your items. If they click on the link to your store, the search field at the top of their screen will search your store.

From August 3 to August 20, 2020 I’ve had over twelve thousand page views of my items. That is twelve thousand opportunities to drive traffic to my store–to keep the buyer looking at my items if they move on.

2. Serious sellers will save money on fees by having an eBay Store

Aside from the benefits of having an eBay store, you also benefit by lower fees when you subscribe to an eBay Store.

First, I want to clarify, that I am not referring to a Starter Store. eBay has a new store level, called a Starter Store for just $7.95 per month ($4.95 if you commit for a year). While a Starter Store offers no insertion fees for 250 listings per month, it does not offer any savings on Final Value Fees (the fee you are charged if your item sells).

Here is a chart of the monthly fee for each Store level:

But every other store saves you money on eBay’s Final Value Fees. The eBay Store that is right for you depends on how many listings you will have per month.

Here is a chart of how many free listings are included with each store level (I’m just referring to the insertion fee here):

Where you save money is when your item sells. And if you’re selling on eBay to generate a full or part-time income, those savings can be significant.

Here are the fees when selling without a store (or with a Starter Store):

Here are the fees for the Basic, Premium and Anchor Stores:

The list is more extensive, but I won’t post it all here. As you can see, in some categories you save as much as 6% on your Final Value Fees when you have a Basic level or higher eBay Store.

In addition to the savings on your eBay fees, eBay also gives subscribers a Quarterly coupon that is good for eBay Co-Branded shipping supplies. The amount of the coupon is equivalent to a month’s store subscription payment.

I use my coupon to buy eBay branded polymailers to store the clothing I list on eBay and to ship clothing when I’m shipping it first class.

3. But up until now, your eBay Store was not enabled on eBay Mobile!

How important is that?

Last Quarter (Q2 2020) eBay’s GMV was $27.1 Billion. $17 Billion of that was on mobile devices. That means that over 63% of the traffic you are getting, is not able to see your eBay Store–until now!

eBay has now rolled out  “Stores on native” which enables your store to show on mobile devices.

How to switch to the new store:

Go to:

pages.ebay.com/storefronts/update

First, eBay will give you the Manage Store screen where you will select your store name. If you already have a store name, you can change it here as well.

Next, you can upload a billboard. The image needs to be 1200 x 270 pixels.

Next, you can upload a logo. Your logo needs to be square to fit properly. If you do not have a logo or an image for your billboard yet, you can skip these steps for now. You can always go back to the Manage Store screen and add them later.

Featured Listings:

eBay then give you the option to choose how to display your Featured listings on your Store page.

The Featured Listings are the top row of your store page made up of four listings that will always be displayed directly under your Billboard and logo on your Store page.

I chose my multiple quantity listings that I have so that I don’t have to change these every time one of them sells. This is also a great way to get more exposure to listings you stock regularly.

For your listings you can choose the order, such as Best Match or Price plus Shipping Highest. Your categories will be displayed on the left. You can choose to display the eBay Categories or your Store Categories here.

You create your own Store Categories based on what items you have listed. These are equivalent to aisles in a store. They are also keywords that are unique pages for Google Searches.

By adding my Billboard, Logo and selecting Featured Listings, eBay created the store page above in minutes.
